The Bella Canvas 3001's tight, smooth weave creates an excellent print surface. Plastisol inks sit cleanly on top with minimal ink absorption into the fabric, which means colours stay vibrant and halftone details stay sharp. For DTG printing specifically, the combed ring-spun construction holds ink beautifully with minimal pre-treatment bleeding. Gildan's Heavy Cotton has a slightly more open, textured surface. For simple spot-colour designs and bold graphics, it prints absolutely fine — millions of event shirts a year are proof of that. Where it shows its limitations is in finer detail work, gradient fades, and photorealistic DTG prints, where the rougher texture can soften edge definition. Sizing and fit: a difference your customers will feel

This is one of the most overlooked differences between the two brands, and it matters a lot if you're building a merch line with consistent sizing across multiple styles.

Gildan cuts traditionally — boxy, generous in the torso, with a slightly dropped shoulder. It's the classic t-shirt silhouette that most people grew up wearing. For workwear, utility garments, or any context where comfort and coverage matter more than fashion fit, it works perfectly.
